In class, I had talked about how one of my favorite movies was Tokyo Godfathers by Satoshi Kon. In general, Kon is one of my favorite directors because of his unique way of portraying scenes, cutting between scenes, and capturing the essence of wonderful dreams. One of my favorite scenes though is from Paprika, below.
This video essay does a great job of explaining the joys of Kon’s animation directing and his ways of stretching what animation could achieve. (Also, I highly recommend watching this series EveryFrameAPainting)
There is his final short at the end so please do give it a watch! 🙂
