Here’s a video of the art director of Skullgirls (a fantastic 2D fighting game) explaining the animation process used in the studio.
The video is short, but you can see that some of the concepts we’re learning in class (like layering your colors and shading) are the exact ones used in the industry. Pretty cool to think about.
If you’ve never heard of the game, you can watch a trailer here. All the character animations are masterfully done, and maybe you can find an inspiration or two for this project (if punching people is the kind of action you want to draw).
